Sharks for Nets for Sharks
Shark Week 2014 is over; long live Shark Week! My plan was to try this only while Shark Week was actually happening, but if you happen to make a donation I could probably still paint a shark for you.
See you next year...
About my event:
This Shark Week, I'd like to encourage you to help Nothing But Nets in their efforts to end malaria with the tangible and visually stimulating incentive of paintings depicting sharks.
If you can donate $10—enough to send one life-saving bed net to a family at risk for malaria—I can hook you up with just such a painting.
About these paintings:
These shark paintings are 8 by 8 inches, on fairly sturdy watercolor paper. I thought it would be appropriate to do these paintings in watercolor, because sharks are 70% water.
The good people at Nothing But Nets understandably are not excited about the idea of my uploading an arbitrary number of hi-res images to their servers, so as I paint more sharks I'll be putting them up at my own website instead: http://www.rcveeder.net/blog/2014/08/10/sharks-for-nets-for-sharks/
How these paintings get to you:
After you've made a donation (there's a donate button in the upper right!) I'll get your email so that I can confirm your address and everything, and then I'll send the painting to you. Pretty simple.
But if you live outside the US, maybe we can go halfsies on the shipping?
Why am I part of Team Bzzzkill:
Malaria is deadly and preventable. The people at the United Nations Foundation and Nothing But Nets are handling the hard part. What's left up to you and me is the easy part. This is not rocket science.
How You Can Help:
Congress allocates funds to fight malaria as well. The folks at the United Nations Foundation have provided this URL to help you contact your member of congress about supporting these important programs:
